"Biblical Sense" Lyrics
(Kevin Bowe / Mick Sterling)
It was such a hot summer in 76’
The good people of Kanasas did
right by their kids
They shuffled them off to our Lady of Grace
The best little bible camp west of the Trace
Leviticus, Genesis,
Matthew and John
They sat in a circle and read all day long
But
teenage souls they ain’t easy to save
When the boys are so handsome and
the girls smell that way
Young Ricky and Janice they didn’t have
a prayer
They both felt their destiny hang in the air
The moon on
the lake and the wind in the leaves
It kept them awake, there was no
way to sleep
Chorus
She parted herself like the sea unto
Moses
Not quite a modern day Mary and Joseph
But just like the
pages from the Old Testament
He got to know her in The Biblical Sense
When the word got out, like the word always does
The fireflies swarmed
and the cabins all buzzed
Her God-fearing friends made Janice decide
A lifetime in Hell, or a 16-year old bride
Meanwhile at supper,
Ricky was king
And the boys all gave praise for this wonderful thing
But Ricky he knew there was a choice to be made
Jesus or Janice,
there’s a price to be paid
Chorus
Bridge
Ricky
and Janice, now Richard and Jan
They’re piling their kids in the back
of the van
Both trying to hide the smiles on their face
As they
drove down the path to our Lady of Grace
